add new soil, -plant bushes, and cover area with mulch as well as clean-up and

mulch some of the missions's established landscape.

Needs (please):

Lots of hard workers :)

$40 suggested donation per family for materials. This is a voluntary donation, please give as you are able.

A pick-up truck (to haul purchased supplies to the work site)

Sod cutter

cement block chopper

a wheelbarrel

Bring: your own work gloves

Moms: There will be a sign-up sheet at co-op this week for lunch food for both days of the work project.

Cleaning Schedule

Please check the cleaning schedule for this week. It is posted on the website. Also, there are many families who are staying to eat lunch at Cornerstone. The job of cleaning the lunch room has become a much bigger one this year. If a few of the moms could help out by wiping down the tables after you are finished eating, that would be so helpful to the mom who is in charge of clean up in there.

Costume at Peoria Players

Hello

I was able to contact Peoria Players and the only opening they have for this week is Friday, April 29th beginning at 3 pm. I asked about hats, and she said that they will only lend out hats to individuals who act responsible enough to wear them.

The cost for renting at Peoria Players is $15 a costume, plus dry cleaning. Some smaller items (i.e hats, gloves, etc) usually cost less.

Evaluations for 2010-2011

Tri- County Enrichment Teacher Evaluations 2010-2011

Nursery:
I thinking having the baby nursery helps tremendously!
Since so many helpers flip in& out, I'm wondering if it would be helpful to have a card for moms to fill out stating the child's schedule and helpful hints.
Love it! Especially the change of toddlers and babies!
The split of ages is wonderful!
Having the babies separate from the toddlers has been working great!
Great having babies & toddlers separate.
I love the facility. The nursery for infants is very well done.
I worked in the nursery and all seemed to go very well. I thought would be nice if little ones could have 1/2 hour to run around gym.
Their doing a terrific job!

Music PK-4
Kind of boring for older boys. Maybe more up tempo.
Good!
Wonderful! My kids loved it. Donna created a wonderful show.
I like the variety of songs(& history behind them). The use of instruments adds interest and is fun for the kids.
Donna is a good match for this class. She is very patient and kind. It worked well. PreK-K seems like a long class they may need more hands-on to keep them engaged.

My son loved this class. He loved the teachers. The program was fantastic.
I loved the Christmas program. It was fun to hear my 5 year old singing around the house.

Love the history blog-please keep it! It makes history fun and my kids learn so much through it!
I wish I still had a child in this class!
The team is doing a phenomenal job! My kid loves history! Thank you for the blog!
BLOG is great!
My child finds this class noisy and hard to concentrate. My child likes the blog & finding answers on it.
History has been communicated well this year. Putting all of the extra credit at the beginning of the semester is helpful.
Love the blog and the homework. Please be careful to give a good variety of extra credit, not all writing asignments.
Find the homework for younger kids too hard. I was the one doing it.
Awesome! Love the blog!

Very pleased with assignments & positive feedback given to kids.
This was not an overly challenging class for my child. I'm sure new material was given to my child.

My child enjoys this class. I appreciate the syllabus. Would be helpful as a mom to get feed back on child's participation, homework, & performance.

Great job! Thanks for the lesson plans!
I like how Lit. & History work together on the paper.
Enjoyed the writing assignments & reading.
Good job, lots of enthusiasm.
My child enjoys it. They make it fun. Reading load a bit heavy 2nd semester. Suggest reading one novel over the break.

This was great for my 9th grader.
Thank you for working with my child. It was hard but so good for my child!
Heatharlynne did a great job teaching & evaluating.
Mrs. Wilkes was excellent. There was much valuable learning in this class. The highlight of co-op.

Research Writing
This is a good class to offer. I prefer a traditional research paper over I search. Maybe 6 weeks of research and 4 weeks of creative writing.

Tech support
My child is disappointed that this is not very structured. We may need a mom to help.
The Tech crew really need adult supervision and adult accountability.

Drama
Love this!
Excellent experience! We love Ms. Kim & her encouragement!
Kim is always wonderful.

Great exposure to sculpture with their projects! It would have been great for students to actually do pottery on a wheel.
My child enjoyed this class!

Harp & Bowl
This has given my kids great skills for worship team leadership.
It was difficult to keep interest in the kids with few instruments. I think we need to do a better job of telling why we do harp & bowl.

Sign Language
This has given great exposure to sign.

Speech
Would have liked to have seen the syllabus and be informed. My child enjoyed this class.
Extremely well organized. Great work load. Great class!

Spanish
If offered again, would like it geared to a beginner class. The teacher was organized & the class was enjoyable overall.

OTHER COMMENTS
-I think this year has gone well very well. This is a great group.
-My kids have struggled a bit to connect with other kids in the co-op. It feels a bit cliquey. I wish this was more of place for my kids to make friends.
-I would like to see the 5-8th grades have optional assignments to challenge advanced students. I would also like to see occasional tests & quizzes to help students learn how to study.
-Overall, we are so happy with Tri-county & enjoy being able to participate!
-We need to have JR & High students fill out student/parent agreements 2nd semester.
-This seems to be a less-inspired year for the high school. These things are usually multi-factored & worth time to dissect the year and regroup in other areas. Jr. High has flowed much better this year with seating arrangements that don't allow much social time.
It has helped them focus and cooperate. They have done a great job getting their assignments done and come to class prepared. I so appreciate all the co-op families and the privilege of sharing in this journey together.
NOTE FROM SUSAN
"Thank you" if you read all of these teacher evaluations. It takes quite a while to get these typed. I hope your encouraged as you should be! This is not my favorite thing to do. But this year, for the most part if you had something negative to say, you also said something positive. That made it easier!
Also, if you say to yourself, she didn't add_________. The curriculum comments are for the curriculum evaluation and meetings. Come to those and help pick out what will be in the classes and texts! You can always come to anyone on the board. You do have a voice! Thanks!

Art Class syllabus

Hi Susan,

Since I wasn't specific about my art projects for this semester at the Mom's meeting, I thought I should send out an email. I am also a bit concerned that we (history, life skills, and art) may duplicate each other too much in our efforts to co-ordinate our teaching. (I don't relish the idea of the kids coming to my class bored because they already did the same thing in a previous class--or two. )

Here's my plans:

1--Greek pottery: working with clay

2--Chinese silk: weaving with felt strips and other things

3--Persia: mosaics

Science items and free stuff

In the foyer are some free books.  Fell free to look and take.

Outside the teacher's lounge are some science materials.  If you could use them for your class please let Allison Nix know.  We will put it in storage.  Otherwise we will find them a new home.

Supplies

Could you please send this message along to the co-op moms? Thanks!

I organized the co-op art supplies recently and will attempt to keep a current list posted on the storage cabinet door. I will be keeping some of the supplies at home since we only are given room for one cabinet. I will put the supplies in 2 categories: 1) often used items will be in the cabinet and 2) items used infrequently will be at my home. If there is something that you need for an upcoming co-op and it is not one kept in the cabinet, you need to contact me before or by the Wednesday before co-op. I will bring it with me on co-op day. But if I don't have the item at home (or don't have enough of the item), you will have Thursday available to go and get it. Please, please, do not expect me to bring something from home by calling me on Friday morning. I will be busy gathering supplies I need for art classes and doing all the last minute things I need to do to get us there on time--besides that, if I don't have what you need, you won't have time to go get it.

Here's what I plan to keep in the cabinet:
#2 pencils
Colored pencils
Crayons
Scissors--including a few adult-sized ones
Elmer's/school glue
Tacky glue
Glue sticks
white copy/drawing paper
a variety of colors of construction paper
Scotch tape
a few Sharpie markers

All paint and paint items will be at my house unless someone feels they should be in the cabinet.

I hope to keep enough of several of these supplies so that 2 classes can use them simultaneously. That means that when you get supplies for your class, take only the amount that you think you will need--not the whole amount. (It's not much fun trying to run around to different classes to locate supplies while your class is waiting for you to teach them.) Maybe I could divide them up and put half in zip-loc bags. If anyone has any better suggestions for sharing the supplies or organizing them better or other items that should be in the storage cabinet, fee free to let me know.

Also, once you all see the list at co-op, please let me know if there is something else we should have as ongoing supplies.

Thank you!
